This week’s Cheadle & Tean Times newspaper is running a story regarding concerns about road safety and the potential private ownership of our high quality wooden lodges.

Peter Swallow of Laver Leisure said:
“The signposted route to Moneystone Park will be the one that the HGVs visiting the former quarry would have taken. The transport assessment which accompanies the planning application concludes that the development is acceptable in both highways and safety terms.
“All of the evidence, going back to when the quarry was fully operational, demonstrates that there is not an inherent safety issue with the A52 junction with Whiston Eaves Lane. However, Laver Leisure through discussion with Staffordshire County Council, as the Local Highways Authority, has agreed to improve the existing junction layout which will enhance visibility for all road users, new and existing, exiting Whiston Eaves Lane. The transport assessment and junction improvements are being reviewed by the Local Highways Authority as part of the planning process.
“While a proportion of the high quality wooden lodges could be sold to private individuals, we have no intention of creating a permanent community. Our contracts will state very clearly how the holiday lodges can be used and all buyers will have a permanent residential address elsewhere within the UK.
“We understand that there are some who do not wish to see any development, but we also know that there is a lot of support locally from those who want to see jobs created and new leisure facilities brought to the area.”
